Hope's Journey

Since its founding, the promise and vision of what Hope Village could be has served us well. People from our founding and supporting churches have given of their time and money. Others from the surrounding community have caught the vision and have provided Hope Village with a broad base of support. We embark on this campaign, “The Promise of Hope,” committed to being good stewards of the vision and confident that God will bless these efforts in the coming years.

In its ten years of operation, Hope Village has ministered to hundreds of residents and their families and has come to be regarded as an important community asset. But the process of building Hope Village into what it is today actually began much earlier:

1983
Housing and Outreach Project for Elderly (H.O.P.E.) is incorporated as a non-profit organization

1989
Future site of Hope Village is purchased

1992
A master plan is completed and land is annexed to the city of Canby

1996
Groundbreaking ceremony; construction on the gardenhomes at
Hope Village begins

1997
The first residents of the gardenhomes move to Hope Village

1998
Marquis Companies opens a facility at Hope Village which provides 80 apartments of assisted living and a 50 bed nursing facility. The land for this facility is leased to Marquis Companies with the provision that Hope Village can purchase the facilities in the future.

1998
Cascade House, the first of two affordable housing units opens.

2004
The second of the affordable housing units, The Meadows, opens. The community center is completed to provide office space and an activity space for all residents of Hope Village.

2007
Hope Village is completed with the construction of the last gardenhomes. 425 residents now live at Hope Village.

2011
Projected assumption of ownership and management of the assisted living/nursing facility by Hope Village, Inc.
